In Blue Prince, one of the key permanent upgrades you can unlock is access to the Basement by lighting the four blue braziers located outside the house. Unlike many other paths in the game, this one does not reset, making it a crucial objective for progression.
However, lighting these braziers isn’t as simple as flipping a switch—you’ll need to locate and activate four gasline valves scattered across different areas of the estate. This guide will walk you through exactly where to find each valve and how to ensure all braziers stay lit for good.

Step 1: Locating the Four Blue Braziers


Before you can light the braziers, you need to find them. Here’s how:
  • Exit the Entrance Hall and head outside to the Grounds.
  • Move left past the Fountain and go down the stairs.
  • At the bottom, you’ll see all four blue braziers lined up on a platform.
    • Each brazier corresponds to a gasline valve in a different area of the estate. Once you turn a valve, its linked brazier will automatically ignite.

    Step 2: Finding the Gasline Valves

  • The Orchard
  • The Gemstone Cavern
  • The Hovel
  • The Schoolhouse

    • Once inside the Orchard, the gasline valve is immediately to your left upon entering.

    • The valve is just inside the entrance, on the right-hand side.


    3. The Hovel & The Schoolhouse Valves


    These two valves are trickier to access because they require constructing special outdoor rooms. Here’s how to do it:

  • Go through the Garage and open the West Gate to unlock the West Path.
  • Use the Outer Room door to draft new rooms.

    • Important: You can only draft one Outer Room per day, so obtaining both the Hovel and Schoolhouse may take multiple in-game days.

    • Once the Hovel is constructed, enter and look for the valve to the right of the fireplace or stove.

    B. The Schoolhouse Valve

    • After drafting the Schoolhouse, the valve is located on the back side of the heater in the center of the room.

    Once all four braziers are lit, an elevator will appear on the platform where they’re located. This provides permanent access to the Basement—but only if you’ve already obtained the Basement Key.
