Access to the Sanctum is granted by collecting special Sanctum Keys, and your journey to find these keys begins after you first reach Room 46. This guide will provide you with the locations of all eight Sanctum Keys and the initial clue that hints at their whereabouts.
Blue Prince: All Sanctum Key locations
Getting to the First Sanctum Key Clue:
Before you can begin your hunt for the Sanctum Keys, you must first make your way to
Room 46. This involves descending into the Underground and navigating towards the Antechamber. Beyond eight distinct doors in this area, you will find the path that leads to Room 46, often after traversing the Rotating Gear pathways.Upon arriving in Room 46 for the very first time, you will receive the
Inheritance Trophy. However, the first Sanctum Key and the crucial clue to finding the others will appear on your
second visit to Room 46.When you return to Room 46, you will discover a clue that provides a poetic hint to the general locations of all eight Sanctum Keys. The clue reads: The first key found here on the furthest rank, The second locked tight in the vault of a bank, The third is high up, among all the clocks, And the fourth down below, beneath all the docks. The fifth key is held by a king on his throne, The sixth in a station, left by one of your own, The seventh is major if you draft it quite late, And the last key is waiting, behind the last door of eight. Now, let's delve into the specific locations of each Sanctum Key based on this clue:
First Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The first key found here on the furthest rank,"
- Location: This key is found in Room 46 itself. On your second visit to Room 46, look around the room carefully. The phrase "furthest rank" might refer to a specific spot within the room, perhaps a shelf, table, or another prominent feature located at the far end or edge of the room.
Second Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The second locked tight in the vault of a bank,"
- Location: The Second Sanctum Key is located within the Vault. However, to access it, you will first need to find Deposit Box Key #370. The challenge here lies in the unpredictability of finding this deposit box key. It is not guaranteed to appear in every run. Keep a vigilant eye out for Deposit Box Key #370 in various loot locations such as Trunks, the Lost and Found, or even at the Locksmith if that room is available in your current run. Once you possess Deposit Box Key #370, you should be able to access the corresponding deposit box within the Vault and retrieve the Second Sanctum Key.
Third Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The third is high up, among all the clocks,"
- Location: The Third Sanctum Key is found in the Clock Tower. The Clock Tower will become available as a drafting option once you have progressed to the Drafting Studio. Upon successfully drafting and entering the Clock Tower, you will encounter an elaborate Clock Tower Puzzle that you must solve to obtain the key.
- Solving the Clock Tower Puzzle: To initiate the puzzle, you need to enter the Clock Tower when the in-game time is 1:30. After a brief cutscene, the actual puzzle will appear. You will need to set the times of the clocks from left to right in the following specific order: 5:00, 5:08, 5:57, 6:00, 7:00, 8:00, 8:05, 9:00. Once you have correctly set all the clock times in this sequence, the Third Sanctum Key will be revealed in a hidden compartment.
Fourth Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "And the fourth down below, beneath all the docks."
- Location: To obtain the Fourth Sanctum Key, you need to reach the Reservoir section of the Underground location. Once you are in the Reservoir area, you must completely drain the reservoir water. After the water has been fully drained, the basin that was previously filled will become accessible, revealing locked chests. The Fourth Sanctum Key is located within one of these locked chests. You will likely need keys or other means to open the chests.
Fifth Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The fifth key is held by a king on his throne,"
- Location: Unlocking the path to the Fifth Sanctum Key involves several prerequisites:
- Complete the Laboratory Puzzle: Successfully solve the Laboratory Puzzle to gain access to the Blackbridge Grotto.
- Collect All Microchips: Find all three Microchips hidden throughout the mansion.
- Place Microchips in Blackbridge Grotto: Locate the pedestal within the Blackbridge Grotto and place all three Microchips on it.
- Unlock Throne Room Access: Placing the Microchips will unlock a new path leading to an area with the Throne Room floorplan.
- Draft and Enter the Throne Room: Draft the Throne Room when it becomes available and enter it. Inside, you will find the Fifth Sanctum Key on a table set beside various showpieces and a knight's armor.
Sixth Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The sixth in a station, left by one of your own,"
- Location: The Sixth Sanctum Key is located in a place referred to as a "station," which in this context is the Safehouse. To reach the Safehouse and obtain the key, you need to return to the Reservoir location in the Underground. This time, instead of draining the water completely, you need to adjust the water level to a height that is sufficient to sail a boat. Using the Reservoir Boat will take you to the Safehouse. Inside the Safehouse, you will find the Sixth Sanctum Key, along with various documents and potentially other lore.
Seventh Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "The seventh is major if you draft it quite late,"
- Location: As hinted by the musical term "major," the Seventh Sanctum Key is located within the Music Room. You will need to draft the Music Room when it becomes available. The clue also uses the word "late," indicating that the major Sanctum Key has a higher chance of appearing if you keep your current run going until it is quite late in the in-game day/night cycle. This suggests that the appearance of the key within the Music Room might be tied to the passage of time within a single run. Be persistent and continue playing until the later stages of your run while trying to draft the Music Room.
Eighth Sanctum Key Location:
- Clue: "And the last key is waiting, behind the last door of eight."
- Location: The Eighth and final Sanctum Key is obtained as a reward for successfully solving the Mechanarium Puzzle. The Mechanarium is a special room that can be found via a floorplan obtained from the Underground region. The Mechanarium Puzzle itself is described as a complex mystery that you will need to unravel. Upon successfully completing the Mechanarium Puzzle, you will be rewarded with the Eighth and final Sanctum Key.
