How To Kill Security Bots in Abiotic Factor

To acquire a Security Bot CPU, you must successfully defeat and then dismantle a Security Bot. These enemies are incredibly dangerous, especially in the early game, capable of eliminating you in just four to five hits even with decent armor.Security Bot Behavior and Locations:

• Activity Cycle: Security Bots become active specifically between 9 PM and 6 AM, when the facility's power shuts down. During these hours, they roam predetermined paths within their assigned areas. Once the power returns in the morning (6 AM), they return to their stations and become inactive.
• Primary Locations: They are primarily found within the Office Sector and Manufacturing West.
• Early/Easy Access Locations:
  • The Office Sector's Cafeteria, located just down from the Security Station where Warren is found, often hosts an early and relatively accessible Security Bot.
  • Level Three of the Office Sector: One bot follows a circular path through the area, leading to Alice Mayfield and the large Executive Office, before returning to its station.
  • Office section past Reception: Another bot patrols a circular path through the immediate area before returning to its wall-mounted station near Reception.
• Detection: Their headlights will turn red when they spot you or an enemy. They have a long sight range, but their slow walking speed allows you to outrun them to either hide or prepare for a fight.
• Attacks: Security Bots have three main attack types:
  • Melee Punch: A close-range attack that briefly stuns you.
  • Electrically-Charged Tackle: A short-range attack that also briefly stuns you.
  • Spin Attack: A high-knockback attack capable of hitting multiple targets, which they prefer to use when surrounded.

Recommended Early-Game Strategy: Shock Traps and Makeshift Crossbow

The safest and most effective way to eliminate Security Bots in the early game is by combining Shock Traps with a Makeshift Crossbow, allowing you to engage them from a distance.

Execution:

Preparation: Before the Security Bot becomes active (before 9 PM), strategically place a Shock Trap down in its expected patrol path. Ensure your Makeshift Crossbow is ready and you have a substantial supply of 30 to 40 Makeshift Crossbow Bolts (the exact amount depends on your character's Accuracy stat).

• Note: Shock Traps are infinitely reusable and can be picked up andrepositioned. They take about five seconds to recharge after activation.

Engage and Kite: When the Security Bot activates, intentionally let it spot you. Then, begin to walk backward, leading it onto the Shock Trap.

Stun and Attack: The trap will stun the bot for a few seconds. While it's stunned, shoot it with your Crossbow Bolts.

Maintain Distance and Repeat: Continue to back up, maintaining a medium distance from the bot. Kite the Security Bot in a circular pattern around the Shock Trap.

Re-Stun and Reload: Periodically, allow the bot to get shocked again by walking it over the trap. This not only deals extra damage but also provides a crucialmoment for you to reload your crossbow, use a healing item, or even land a few quick melee hits if you feel confident.

Persistence: Repeat this cycle of stunning, shooting, and kiting until the SecurityBot is defeated. With the added damage from the Shock Trap, you'lllikely need around 25 to 30 Bolts. Without the traps, it would require closer to 40 Bolts.

Alternative Stun/Damage:

• Security Bots can also be significantly stunned and damaged by natural electrical hazards, such as the electrified water found on Level Three. Luring a bot into such an area can provide an easy kill.

Looting a Security Bot:

Once defeated, the Security Bot will drop a few random sodas. You can then use a Kitchen Knife to butcher it, similar to butchering alien creatures, though it takes slightly longer.

• Guaranteed Drops: A defeated Security Bot will always drop Robot Oil and one Security Bot CPU.
• Chance Drops: There's also a chance to receive additional materials like Metal Scraps, Coils, Glass Scrap, and Tech Scrap.
• Farming Potential: Beyond the CPU, Security Bots are an excellent source of large amountsof Metal Scraps, especially if you can set up efficient farming methods, saving you from tedious tasks like breaking down Filing Cabinets.

What To Do With Security Bot CPUs

The Security Bot CPU is an incredibly important resource, serving as the primary component for crafting Computational Bricks. Computational Bricks, in turn, are essential for fabricating severalmandatory items required for game progression, most notably the Keypad Hacker.

• All the recipes for the Keypad Hacker's components (Controller, LCD Screen, Infrared Emitter) and the Keypad Hacker itself can be discovered byfirst crafting a Computational Brick.
• Crafting each subsequent item that is revealed at a Crafting Bench will continue to unlock further recipes until you eventually discover the Keypad Hacker recipe.
• Easier Method: Alternatively, you can obtain all the Keypad Hacker recipes at once by finding and speaking with Alice Mayfield, a GATE Researcher located on Level Three.

How To Find Alice Mayfield

Locating Alice Mayfield is an important shortcut to acquiring the Keypad Hackerrecipes without having to craft all preceding items.

From Reception: Start by going left at Reception towards the Security Office.

Open Shutters: Follow the path to that Security Office. You'll need to use an Energy Brick to power and open the nearby shutters.

Access Level Three Lift: Opening these shutters will unlock a small section that provides ashortcut back to the entrance of Manufacturing West. Crucially, it alsoreveals a lift that takes you to a section of Level Three.

Travel to Anteverse II: Ride the lift up to a small research area that warns you of radiation. Proceed to the Portal at the end of the catwalk and enter it to reach Anteverse II. This alien dimension contains key resources like Anteverse Wheat and is home to two Exor, which you can fight for their Hearts to upgrade yourWorkbench.

Return to Level Three: Travel through Anteverse II and exit via the Portal at the other end of the area. This will bring you out into another section of Level Three.

Navigate to Silo Three: Walk down the pipes you emerge onto, carefully jump over any electrified water, and then follow the path. This path will lead you directly to Silo Three.

Alice Mayfield's Location: Alice Mayfield will be found in an unlocked room near the entrance to Silo Three.

Unlock Elevator Shortcut: While you are in this area, make sure to unlock the elevator directly across from where Alice Mayfield is located. This elevator provides a permanent shortcut, connecting back to themain elevator near Reception, allowing for quick travel between the twofloors.

Upon speaking with Alice Mayfield, she will impart the full recipe for the Keypad Hacker and all its necessary components, along with valuable hints on where and how to utilize your new hacking device.
