In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the Reverent Temple Key is a crucial item that grants access to a new region, allowing you to progress through the main story. This key is used to unlock a specific gate in the Temple Courtyard that is otherwise inaccessible.

Where to Find the Reverent Temple Key

The Reverent Temple Key is not a hidden collectible but is awarded for defeating a main-story boss.

• Commander Honglan: You will obtain the key after defeating the main boss, Commander Honglan.
• Location: You will encounter Commander Honglan in the Tang Emperor's Palace area as part of the main questline.
• Difficulty: This is a late-game boss fight, typically encountered around the eight-hour mark of your playthrough (depending on exploration and deaths). Commander Honglan is a human opponent, making her a unique challenge compared to earlier monstrous bosses like the Great Centipede. It's crucial to be properly prepared for this difficult encounter.

Upon defeating Commander Honglan, she will drop the Reverent Temple Key, which will then be added to your inventory.

What the Reverent Temple Key Unlocks

The Reverent Temple Key is used to unlock the west side gatein the Temple Courtyard. This courtyard contains three gates: theeastern gate is tied to a different part of the main story, but thewestern gate is specifically for key-holders.

• Destination: Unlocking the west gate provides access to the Cloudspire region.
• Story Progression: Traveling to the Cloudspire region is a necessary step in the mainstory after you have completed your objectives in the Tang Emperor'sPalace.
• Environmental Hazard: The Cloudspireregion is a snowy mountain area that poses an environmental threat. Asshowcased in promotional videos, this region will inflict the Frostbite Debuff on your character.
• Mitigation: To counter the effects of Frostbite, you'll need to have Wine on hand. Consuming wine will clear the Frostbite status effect andrestore a small amount of HP, allowing you to survive the harsh cold ofthe Cloudspire region.
