Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, powered by Unreal Engine 5, delivers breathtaking visuals that bring the late Ming Dynasty of the land of Shu to life. However, this graphical fidelity comes at a cost, as many PC players have been experiencing performance issues ranging from stuttering to low framerates. To help you achieve a smoother and more enjoyable experience, this guide outlines the best graphics settings to optimize performance without completely sacrificing visual quality.
Best Graphics Settings for Wuchang: Fallen Feathers on PC
The game's graphics options are divided into two main sections:
Graphics Settings and
Advanced Graphics Settings. The following recommendations are designed to provide a balanced experience, offering a sweet spot between visual quality and performance.
Graphics Settings
These settings mainly control the display and overall presentation of the game.
- Display: Select your primary monitor.
- HDR: On. If you have an HDR-capable display, enabling this can enhance the dynamic range and colors. If the image appears overexposed, it may be incorrectly configured, and you should turn it off.
- Display Mode: Borderless Windowed. The game currently lacks a true full-screen option, and this mode provides a good balance of performance and usability.
- Resolution: Native. Always select your monitor's native resolution for the sharpest image. Use an upscaling technology like DLSS or FSR to improve performance rather than lowering your resolution.
- Lock FPS: Unlimited.
- V-Sync: Off. Turning this off can reduce input latency, but it may cause screen tearing.
- Low Latency Mode: Enable if available. This can significantly reduce input lag, especially in fast-paced combat.
- Overall Quality: Custom. We will be adjusting individual settings to create the optimal preset.
- Motion Blur: Off. This is a personal preference, but turning it off can improve environmental awareness during combat and exploration.
- Depth of Field: High. This adds a pleasing bokeh effect and does not have a significant performance impact.
Advanced Graphics Settings
These settings are more demanding and directly impact the visual fidelity of the game world.
- Oversampling Resolution: 55%. This determines the target resolution for the game's upscaler. Asetting of 55% offers a good balance between performance and imageclarity.
- Super-Resolution Oversampling: DLSS. For owners of NVIDIA RTX GPUs, DLSS is the best option for boostingperformance with minimal loss in quality. If your GPU does not supportDLSS, the game defaults to TSR, which is more demanding.
- Frame Generation: On. If your GPU supports Frame Generation (e.g., NVIDIA RTX 40-series),make sure this is enabled to get a substantial boost in FPS.
- Sharpening: Personal Preference. Adjust this to your liking to make the image appear sharper.
- Post-Processing: High. Handles effects like bloom and other screen-space effects.
- Shadow Quality: Mid. Shadows are one of the most performance-intensive settings. "Mid" provides a good visual quality without a major FPS hit.
- Effects Quality: High. This controls the quality of effects like explosions and enemy attacks. If you experience FPS drops during intense combat, consider loweringthis to "Mid" or "Low."
- Viewing Distance: High. While this can impact performance, setting it to "High" significantlyreduces texture pop-in, making the world feel more immersive.
- Texture Quality: GPU VRAM Dependent.
- 6GB VRAM: Low
- 8GB VRAM: Mid
- 12GB+ VRAM: High
- Vegetation Quality: Mid. Outdoor areas are dense with foliage, making this a demanding setting."Mid" is a great compromise for visual quality and performance.
- Volumetric Fog: Low. This is another very taxing setting. While it can look stunning, setting it to "Low" is recommended for better performance in foggysections of the game.
- Global Illumination: Mid. This setting handles realistic lighting and can be highly demanding."Mid" is the best option for a balance of performance and visualquality.
- Ambient Occlusion: High. This setting adds depth to dimly lit scenes and has a minimal impact on framerate, so keeping it on "High" is a good choice.
By applying these settings, you should be able to achieve a significantlymore stable framerate, allowing you to focus on the challenging combatand beautiful world of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.
