The Zhanlu Sword is not found in a chest or as a simple drop from an enemy. Instead, it is a reward for completing a long and involved side quest tied to the NPC Nian Suichang. Nian Suichang is a key character who you will encounter at various points throughout the game. To get the sword, you must find him in all of his locations and speak with him to exhaust his dialogue each time.Nian Suichang is easily identifiable by his blue robe and white straw hat. Here are some of the key locations where you need to interact with him:

• Narrow Pass: The first encounter is along the pathway leading out of Lightzen Temple.
• Shu Sanctum: You'll find him next to the Shrine at Shu Sanctum.
• Reverent Temple: He appears here after you defeat Commander Honglan.
• Hillswatch: You'll find him on the main path here.
• Refugee Camp: He moves to several spots in and around the Refugee Camp after you defeat the Bo Sorcerer and the South General.
• Near the Storyteller: After defeating Fierce Tiger/Zhang Xianzhong, he can be found near the Storyteller.
• Shu Sanctum (Ruins): His final appearance is in the Ruins of Worship's Rise, where he is sitting on a cliffside next to his deceased brother's body.

After you have completed all interactions with Nian Suichang and spoken to him for the last time at the Shu Sanctum ruins, you can leave the area and return. When you come back, Nian and his brother's body will be gone, and in their place, you will find a valuable cache of items, including the Zhanlu Sword and the full Champion's Armor Set.
