"The Promised Light" is a multi-stage adventure within the Jianghu Legacy questline in Where Winds Meet. To begin, you must first prove your dedication to Qinghe by accumulating 6,000 Qinghe Exploration Points. Once you've reached this milestone, journey to the Sundara Land region and seek out a specific Wayfarer. Speaking with them will officially add this challenging quest to your log.

The Key to the Pagoda: Finding the Buddha's Light Jade

Your primary objective is to ascend the Buddha's Light Pagoda at Halo Peak, but the entrance is sealed. To open it, you must possess the complete Buddha's Light Jade, a sacred item forged from two separate halves: Yin and Yang.

• Buddha's Light Jade: Yang Location
  The Yang half is not a hidden treasure but a reward for your prowess in the main story. You will automatically receive it upon successfully completing the Palace of Annals campaign dungeon and defeating its final boss. This makes it a guaranteed prize for progressing through the game's central narrative.
• Buddha's Light Jade: Yin Location
  Similarly, the Yin half is bestowed upon you for conquering another story chapter, the Bodhi Sea campaign. After fighting your way through this area and triumphing over its main boss, the game will grant you Buddha's Light Jade: Yin, completing the set.

Crucial Tip: You can only place the completed jade on the pagoda's pedestal during the Wu Hour (1:00 AM - 3:00 AM in-game). If it's not the right time, use the game's wait function to advance the clock.

Pagoda Ascent & Bronze Mirror Puzzle Solution

With the jade placed, the path upward opens. Inside, you'll face the quest's first major challenge: the Bronze Mirror Contraption.

Initial Setup: After entering, pull the lever to lower a hatch and descend. Use your Meridian Touch ability on the first Buddha statue to manipulate a beam of light, directing it to the right to proceed.

The Main Chamber: The next room is filled with statues holding bronze mirrors. Your goal is to guide a single light beam through the network until it reaches the door mechanism on the far side.

Step-by-Step Solution:

• Begin with the central statue, rotating it to send the beam toward the left side of the room.
• The light will begin bouncing in a loop around the perimeter. Follow itspath, making minor adjustments to each statue to ensure it continues.
• When you reach the upper right corner, you'll see a standing statue next to a fallen one. This is the key. Instead of continuing the loop, rotate the standing statue to break the cycle and send the beam shooting down a new hallway.
• In the corridor, adjust the final mirror to hit the door panel. When it glows, the way forward is unlocked.

Navigating the Caverns and Defeating Miaoshan

Beyond the puzzle, the quest becomes a test of platforming and combat.

• Platforming Descent: You'll drop into a cavern, battle a group of Mechanical Puppets to obtain a key, and navigate crumbling ruins. Watch for a hidden chest on a lower ledge during your descent.
• The Final Stretch: Cross a series of swaying rope bridges carefully. A dramatic collapsesequence will follow, requiring quick reflexes and timed button promptsto survive the fall, ultimately landing you at the Thousand-Buddha Cavern teleport point.
• Opening the Grotto: Use Meridian Touch on the final statue to direct a beam of light at a sealed stone door, granting access to the boss arena.

Boss Fight Strategy: How to Beat Miaoshan (Tian Ying)

Miaoshan is a formidable opponent with a three-phase fight that tests your defensive skills.

• Phase 1: He uses slow, telegraphed attacks. Focus on parrying when his weapon glows brightly. Successful parries will drain his stamina, creating your primary windows for counter-attacks.
• Phase 2: His aggression increases, and he begins to chain combos. Look for colored flashes signaling powerful moves. Maintain your defensive discipline, parrying and dodging to wait for an opening.
• Phase 3: Miaoshan becomes highly aggressive and may summon minions. Your focus should remain on the boss itself. Prioritize clean dodges and deflections over offense. Whittle down his health while avoiding his most devastating attacks.

After his defeat, swim through the underwater tunnel to conclude the quest.
