Our guide How to beat Riot Shields in MW2 and Warzone 2 will help you take down even the most stubborn shield users.

Riot shields have been a staple in the Call of Duty series for a long time. They provide excellent protection to the user, but they can be a frustrating enemy to face. In Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, riot shields are back and more prevalent than ever. However, there are ways to beat them, and this guide will show you how.

Techniques for Beating Riot Shields

  • Aim for the Feet: Riot shields may protect the user from the front, but their feet are still exposed. By aiming for the feet, you can deal damage to the user and potentially take them out. This tactic is especially effective if the user is moving towards you, as they will be more vulnerable.
  • Use Equipment that Deals AoE: DamageArea of effect (AoE) equipment such as Claymores or C4 can be effective against riot shield users. By placing them near or behind the user, you can deal damage without having to directly confront them. Additionally, riot shield users tend to move slowly, making them more susceptible to AoE equipment.
  • Strategically Use Stun/Smoke Grenades and Angled Explosives: Stun and smoke grenades can be used to temporarily blind or disorient riot shield users, giving you a chance to attack them from an unexpected angle. Angled explosives such as Semtex can be used to deal damage to the user without having to directly hit them.
  • Use Drill Charges: Drill charges are a new addition to Warzone 2 and can be used to destroy vehicles and structures. However, they can also be used to deal damage to riot shield users.  By placing a drill charge near the user's feet, you can deal significant damage and potentially take them out.
  • Use the Classic Molotov Trick: The classic molotov trick involves throwing a molotov cocktail at the user's feet. The fire will spread and deal damage over time, potentially taking the user out. This tactic is especially effective if the user is standing near a flammable object.

Using Bomb Drones

  • How to Use Bomb Drones: Bomb drones are a new addition to Warzone 2 and can be used to deal significant damage to enemies. By controlling the drone, you can fly it towards the riot shield user and detonate it near them. This tactic can be especially effective if the user is in a confined space.
  • Coaxing Riot Shield Users Out: If a riot shield user is camping in a building or room, you can use a bomb drone to coax them out. By flying the drone towards the user and detonating it near the entrance, you can force them to move and potentially take them out.
  • Giving Teammates an Opening: Bomb drones can also be used to give your teammates an opening to attack the user. By detonating the drone near the user, you can disorient them and give your teammates a chance to attack.

Using Melee to Counter Riot Shields

  • How to Use Melee: Melee attacks can be an effective way to counter riot shields. By getting up close and personal, you can attack the user from an angle that is not protected by the shield. Additionally, melee attacks are quick and can catch the user off guard.
  • Strategizing for Jumping Near a Riot Shield User: Jumping near a riot shield user can be an effective way to use melee attacks against them. By jumping over the shield, you can attack the user from an unexpected angle. However, this tactic requires precise timing and can be risky.
  • Aiming for the Head: If you can get close enough to the user, aiming for their head can be an effective way to take them out. Headshots deal more damage than body shots, and riot shield users are vulnerable to attacks from above.

Riot shield users can be a frustrating enemy to face, but with these techniques, you can beat them. Whether you prefer to use equipment, bomb drones, or melee attacks, there are ways to take out these shielded foes. Remember to stay aware of your surroundings and be strategic in your attacks. Good luck on the battlefield!
