The PC release of Stellar Blade has achieved significant success, surpassing the concurrent user count of many PlayStation-published titles on the platform. It's lauded as an excellent port, offering a smooth experience that often feels like an upgrade over the PS5 version. However, despite its high quality, some minor issues have been reported. One such issue involves the photo mode, specifically the "Screenshots Save Failed" error during certain missions.

Fixing the "Screenshots Save Failed" Error in Stellar Blade

If you're encountering the "Screenshots Save Failed" error in Stellar Blade, preventing you from taking selfies or saving photo mode shots, it's typically due to the game lacking the necessary permissions to create a dedicated folder for these images. This often occurs if the game is installed in the default Windows directory (C: drive). Fortunately, there's a straightforward solution:

Open Steam and navigate to your Library.

Right-click on Stellar Blade.

Select Manage, then click on Browse local files.

This action will open the directory where Stellar Blade is installed on your PC. By default, if installed on the C: drive, the path is usually: C:Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\StellarBlade

Within this StellarBlade folder, create a new folder and rename it to "Screenshots".

That's all you need to do. After creating this folder, you should be able to progress through the mission and take screenshots normally. Ideally, the game should automatically create this folder, but as mentioned, permission issues can sometimes prevent the executable from doing so.

Alternate Workaround

The developers have acknowledged this issue and confirmed an alternative workaround: simply disabling HDR (High Dynamic Range) also fixes the problem. However, this might not be ideal if you prefer to play with HDR enabled for its visual benefits.

The developers have also stated that they are actively investigating thismatter, aiming to provide a permanent fix in a future patch so thatplayers won't need to resort to manual folder creation for a basicfeature like screenshots.

Overall, despite these minor technical hiccups, Stellar Blade's PC port is considered one of the best Unreal Engine releases in recentmemory. Its consistent performance across both PC and PS5, particularlygiven that it doesn't utilize Unreal Engine 5, has been a highlight forplayers.
