The area included by STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl exceeds 60 square kilometers in size. So, getting from A to B can be a real drag, and some players would prefer to use a rapid travel system to cut down on trip time. This article will show you how to use the fast travel function in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, which is great news for those players.
You can't just hop on a fast travel pod and go anywhere you want in STALKER 2; the mechanic is severely constrained. Fans will benefit from knowing how fast travel works, though, because it can be handy at times.
How to Fast Travel
Let it be known right off the bat that rapid travel is only applicable to destinations that are accessible via Guide. To clarify, in STALKER 2, Guides are non-player characters (NPCs) that can transport players to another area with a Guide at the touch of a button; these locations are denoted on the map by reticle icons.
Fast travel between sites players have already visited is the only option in STALKER 2, therefore players can't just utilize a Guide to go to any other Guide on the map. For the sake of providing a concrete illustration, the first two Bases that fans will encounter are in the Garbage Region (the Slag Heap) and the Lesser Zone Region (Zalissya). Once players have visited both bases, they can use the guides within to quickly travel between them.
However, there is a fee to using Guides, so players can't just quick travel between areas forever. The required expenditure on rapid travel is not impossible to meet, but it is substantial enough to make a difference, especially for players just starting out in the game. The early money that STALKER players earn would be better spent on improving their gear than on rapid transit.
Thankfully, players can initially reduce their need on fast travel by devoting sufficient time to exploring each Region before going on to the next. As a result, players should remain in a region until they've completed all of the side quests, explored all of the designated places, and found all of the Stashes there. There shouldn't be any pressing need to fast travel back to the previous Region after a player is pleased with their exploration of that area; instead, they can continue following STALKER 2's primary story into the next area.
