How to Unlock Purified Freedom Achievement in Risk of Rain 2

The Seeker of the Storms expansion for Risk of Rain 2 introduced a host of new content, including three challenging new achievements. Among these, the Purified Freedom achievement is a key goal for players looking to expand their roster of playable survivors. This guide will walk you through the exact steps required to unlock this trophy by defeating and recruiting the powerful False Son.

Step-by-Step: How to Unlock the False Son

The core requirement for the Purified Freedom achievement is straightforward: you must unlock the False Son as a playable survivor. This process involves a specific sequence of actions across two different environments.

Journey to the Gilded Coast: Your first objective is to reach the Gilded Coast, a unique hidden realm. This area is not part of the main stage rotation and can only be accessed by finding a Celestial Portal, which has a chance to spawn after the third stage. You must activate a Celestial Portal and enter it to be transported to the Gilded Coast.

Defeat Aurelionite: Upon arriving at the Gilded Coast, you will face the area's boss, Aurelionite. Focus your fire on this formidable stone golem to emerge victorious. Once defeated, Aurelionite will drop a Halcyon Seed. It is absolutely critical that you pick up this item, as it is the key to your next step.

Locate a Green Portal: After collecting the Halcyon Seed, you must continue your run until you find a Green Portal, also known as a Void Portal. These portals can randomly appear onstages. You may need to progress through several levels, repeatedlyopening portals, until a Green Portal spawns. Enter it to travel to theVoid Fields.

Traverse the Prime Meridian: The Green Portal will take you to the Prime Meridian, a fracturedversion of the Void Fields. Navigate this hazardous environmentcarefully.

Conquer the False Son: While on the Prime Meridian and with the Halcyon Seed in yourinventory, the False Son will spawn as the area's boss. Engage anddefeat this challenging enemy. Upon its defeat, you will immediatelyunlock the False Son as a playable survivor and earn the Purified Freedom achievement.
