Close background apps.

If you still encounter this problem it is likely that you may be running applications in the background which you are not really using. Which results in a noticeable decline in game performance. So you will want to close all those applications that are running in the background and that you are not really using before launching the game.

To do this you will have to press the Windows R key> type msconfig> Enter> access General> deactivate the Load startup items> then go to the Services tab> activate the option to Hide all Microsoft services> select Disable all> then Hit Apply and OK, which should correct the problem.

Full screen mode.

Another thing you can do if you are looking to correct stuttering problems is to enable full screen mode instead of windowed mode, as the latter seems to cause stuttering problems.

So in short, go to the settings and run the game in full screen mode to avoid problems.

Update the graphics card.

This is key to avoid more than one problem, keep the graphics card and the rest of the system software up to date.

Keep in mind that the graphics is an element that directly influences the performance of the game, so you will have to make sure that it is updated in terms of the driver version. For this we recommend that you visit the manufacturer's page regularly to see if there is a new driver available.

You can also use GeForce experience to check the driver.

Graphic configuration.

If after updating your graphics drivers you are still encountering the stuttering error, we recommend setting the game's graphics settings to a minimum and increasing the settings by one until the game stops to stutter.

When the stuttering starts the above settings are the best for your system.

Nvidia Settings.

Changing Nvidia settings can solve stuttering issues, so the first thing to do is right-click on Desktop> NVIDIA Control Panel> 3D Settings> Adjust image settings with preview> turn on the Use my preference box emphasizing: Quality, although you can also let the 3D application decide> take the bar to Performance> Apply to implement the changes.

Then you will have to go to the section "Manage 3D settings" in "3D Settings"> Program Settings> Horizon Zero Dawn or add the game if it is not in the list> select your preferred graphics processor> then select the NVIDIA processor high perfomance.

Set the program settings, power management mode, and VR default frames to 1.

Configuration power options.

If your GPU cooler is not that effective you can increase the CPU temperature by a few degrees to avoid damaging the system and to do so you will have to follow the steps below:

Access the battery icon in the System Tray and take the button to Better performance> then right click on the battery icon> Power options> Change plan settings> Change advanced power settings > access processor power management> select the plus sign to expand> access the minimum processor state and set it to 100 percent> then set the maximum processor state to 100 percent and press Ok to save the changes.

Game settings.

In this case, the first thing you have to do is place Regedit in the Windows search tab> go to Run as administrator> Files> Export. Name the backup and save it to the desired location.

Then head to HKEY_CURRENT_USER> System> GameConfigStore> double click GameDVR_Enabled on the right> set the value data to 0, base as hex> OK.

Then you will have to double click on GameDVR_FSEBehaviorMode> put the value data as 2 and the base as hexadecimal> OK.

Go back and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Microsoft> PolicyManager> default> ApplicationManagement> AllowGameDVR> select the value on the right side and set it to 0> Ok> restart your PC.

Set Windows.

For this you will have to access the Windows search bar> type "performance"> access "Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows"> activate the Adjust box for the best performance> Apply and OK.

Delete temporary Windows files.

To delete temporary files you will have to start by accessing the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key R> place for hundred temp%> Enter> press Ctrl A and press Delete, in case you cannot delete some files just leave them and close the window .

Again press the Windows R key> type temp> Enter> grant the permission and delete everything in this folder as well.

Once again press Windows R> place prefetch> Enter> press Ctrl A to select all> Delete.
