Teradek Bolt 4K allows video transmission in 4k HDR with 0 latency

Teradek is a technology company dedicated to the design and production of high-performance audio-visual transmission alternatives (covering film and images in general). Among these alternatives include wireless monitoring, color correction, live broadcasts, IP video distributions, among other aspects.

On this occasion, Teradek has made the announcement to his new Bolt 4K device, which he presented during the last NAB Show 2019 (National Association of Broadcasters), held in Las Vegas. The Teradek Bolt 4K is the first system that allows the transmission of HDR 4K 10 bits 4: 2: 2 wirelessly with a range of up to 1500 feet.

Introducing Bolt 4K: Zero Delay Wireless Video in 4K HDR

Teradek had already made a great contribution to the field of wireless video transmission with its current top-of-the-line system, Bolt 1000, which is capable of transmitting video signals with latency 0 at a resolution of 1080p at 60 fps, up to a distance of 1000 feet. However, with the new Teradek Bolt 4K, this technology company significantly improves the technology of wireless video transmission.

Some characteristics and details of the Teradek Bolt 4K

Teradek Bolt 4K transmits HDR 4: 2: 2 10-bit video at a range of up to 1,500 feet of line of sight over the 5 GHz band without a license. This transmission is performed without competition and with a latency of 0, becoming the first device with this capacity. In addition, the Teradek Bolt 4K allows multicasting up to 6 receivers, simultaneously.

The receivers of the Teradek Bolt 4K have double 12G-SDI and HDMI 2.0, while their receivers have two 12G-SDI outputs and one HDMI 2.0 output. In addition to having a compatibility with the time code and the brands of the main camera manufacturers, including RED, ARRI, Canon, Sony and Panasonic.

With respect to HDR workflows, the Teradek Bolt 4K has compatibility with HDR-10, PQ and HLG standards, in addition to being able to transport camera metadata, time code and activated registers through the same wireless link.

Finally, the Teradek Bolt 4K will be available in two pesentations, depending on its distance capabilities. One is the Teradek Bolt 4K 750 TX / RX with range of up to 750 feet (about 228 meters) and the other is the Teradek Bolt 4K 1,500 TX / RX with a maximum range of 1,500 feet (about 457 meters).
