Sony does not allow to have a better experience with the characters and content of Destiny 2

As is known by the fans, Destiny 2 is a video game of first person shooter in the form of massive online multiplayer, based on an open world of speculative fiction. This was developed by Bungie and published by Activision under an agreement for production contract with a projection to ten years. It was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during September 2017, while for Microsoft Windows it was released that same year October 24.

Sony Opposed Bungie’s Wish to Enable Cross-Platform Characters

Due to the fact that it is a multiplatform game, the ideal would be to enable an open transfer of content between the available platforms (in fact this was the central idea of the developer Bungie). However, in the case of the Destiny franchise, there is a particular case that there is a certain exclusivity of content on the part of Sony and that it blocks the possibility of transferring such content to the other platforms.

Apparently, at the beginning of everything, the developer Bungie created an agreement under exclusive contract with Sony oriented to certain content that creates the latter for PlayStation. Since then, although Bungie wants to allow a free transfer of content between all Destiny 2 platforms, with the goal of improving the player experience, Sony has simply prevented it.

Recently Jason Schreier de Kotaku, a website dedicated to videogames, mentioned this issue that Sony does not allow the transfer of the Destiny 2 characters to the other platforms. At the end of his last segment last week, entitled The Future of Dragon Age (And Assassin's Creed), he concludes with a discussion about Destiny 2 and mentions the idea of transferring characters between the platforms of this game, clarifying that that would be an attractive feature since it would be more convenient for all players, but Sony prevented such an improvement. "I heard that Bungie wanted to make character transfers for PS4 and PC," Schreier said. "But Sony would not allow it." Sony says: we want people to associate Destiny with PS4, "even if that means ruining other players," he concluded.

Apparently, having this kind of exclusivity against cross-platform game that goes beyond Destiny 2. Although Sony has made certain exceptions, such as the position I took at the beginning of this year, approving the cross game of the Rocket League. However, generally Sony only takes a position that PS4 is the platform that offers the best experience.

In addition, it seems that the agreement between Sony and Bungie extends far beyond a mere exclusivity in a game, since Sony has presented exclusive content for PS4 in both releases of Destiny. This has prevented the rest of the players from having a better gaming experience, which is a great pity.

Although the ideal would be that games like Destiny 2 presented the possibility of a free exchange of content between platforms, given that it would be a great benefit for all users, there is the pitiful case that is not so. It only remains to wait for Sony to have some mercy.
