After months of speculation, leaks and other, finally Nintendo switch had its debut in March 2017. The Wall Street Journal said in one of its articles that according to "suppliers and others with direct knowledge", it is very likely that this new console includes a series of updates related to its performance, such as a new software functionality or an improved LCD screen. 

Another of the rumors addressed a new version of the original Switch, which would focus entirely on the appearance of the portable console. It was also speculated that the company could reduce the price of the Nintendo switch over the course of this year, all to increase sales. However, Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, discredited both claims and revealed that the switch console is his main focus, without considering a revision or a price cut so far.

With regard to the release date, it is totally impossible to predict the exact release date for the Nintendo Switch 2, however, we have some data that could be useful to develop a possible timeline.

According to the Wall Street Journal article that we mentioned earlier, they claim that the new console could be expected in the course of 2019. Moreover, during an interview on GamingBolt with Michael Pachter, an industry analyst at Wedbush Securities, he suggested that we should not wait for a new Switch console to arrive at least for this year, indicating the following.

"Nintendo may position it as a reinvented Switch. My guess is that Nintendo will take the Switch and get rid of the “Switch” part, so it’ll be handheld only".

In addition to suggesting that "They’ll probably just make the joycons part of the integrated body of the tablet and probably drop the price. Get rid of the docking station, and the external power supply- just turn the thing into a handheld that’s rechargeable with a power cord, you know, like a normal handheld, and charge $200 for it.”

It should be noted that so far we are only talking about simple speculations. However, if the announcement of a new console manages to arrive at some point of the year, there could be the possibility that prototypes of the Switch 2 consoles will come to light by the end of this 2019.
