How to get a sponge in Minecraft?

If you are in survival mode there are 2 main ways to get it.

• 1. Look for them growing in the monument of the ocean

To get a sponge in Survival mode, you can gather wet sponges that grow naturally in the Ocean Monument (also called Guardian Temple). Here we will explain how:

The ocean monument is located in the deep ocean biome.

Once you have found the Ocean Monument, look for a group of sponges that grow in the temple. Although the place where they grow can vary in the monument.

• -For Java Edition (PC / Mac), left click and hold the damp sponge.
• -For Pocket Edition (PE), touch and hold the damp sponge.
• -For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
• -For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
• -For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
• -For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
• -For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold the damp sponge.
• -For Education Edition, left click and hold the damp sponge.

The wet sponge breaks and a smaller sponge will float on the floor. Be sure to pick up the damp sponge before it disappears.

• 2.Find and kill an old guardian

You can add a wet sponge to your inventory in Survival mode by killing an elderly guardian.

Elder Guardians will appear at the Ocean Monument in the Deep Ocean.

Once you find an old man you must attack him. When you attack the old guardian, it will turn pink when it was damaged.

Continue chasing and attacking the old man. Once you have killed the Greater Guardian, you can drop one or more of the following: a damp sponge, prismarine crystals, or fragments of prismarines.
