This is one of the main character's abilities, with which you'll be able to stop enemies in their tracks with freezing ice missiles. And if you combine this with the super missile, they will make your alternate fire considerably more formidable, but you will have to find the ignition first.

How to get the ice missile ability in Metroid Dread?

In order to get your hands on this ability the first thing you need to do is take down an EMMI robot, specifically the EMMI patrolling Ghavaron, which will be able to freeze Samus with its eye beam as she tries to escape. To kill this robot we recommend you use the Omega Cannon, and when you finish it, you will receive the Ice Missile ability as a reward.

Ice missiles are fired in the same way as standard missiles, as well as using the same ammunition.

As already mentioned, these missiles will be able to freeze enemies when appropriate, rendering them temporarily immobile. They will also allow you to freeze plants that serve as platforms; otherwise, they will vanish after standing still for a moment.

You will also be able to break the burning mushrooms that block certain passages with these missiles.
