The creators of the Project Cars saga surprised the world a few days ago by announcing that they were working on their own console, which is called Mad Box and will be "the most powerful console in the world".

A new rival for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One of which a few days ago we knew the first and extravagant prototypes and of which we now know its final design. It has been chosen after a public vote with which the responsible studio, Slightly Mad, has wanted to leave in the hands of the users how the platform looks and how it will be at home.

The final design has the possibility to be vertical and horizontal, it is made of carbon fiber and metal and it will have several lines of light running through its forms, which will show a color that will change or we can choose and fix. The most striking of it is the touch screen on the front, in line with the keyboards of the latest MacBook, where it will show what we are playing or what we are seeing / listening.

Mad Box, the new console of the sector

Although Mad Box is still under development, its ambition is excessive. Its creators want to offer a resolution of 4K in all games and a rate of images per second that never drops below 60 fps.

But not only that, they also want a total integration of virtual reality. That is, 90 fps per eye, which is 180 fps in total, to revolutionize the technology and finish settling it and make us surprised by its, not only immersion, but also graphic quality.

To enjoy Mad Box, however, we will have to wait. Its creators have declared that they do not expect it to be available for another 3 years (will we see PlayStation 5 and the successor of Xbox One?). What they do intend to offer before is  Cars 3, a rival for Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo Sport

Among these devices are both Oculus and HTC Vive, as well as being compatible with a multitude of peripherals for PC, such as mouse, keyboard, steering wheels, etc ... "It will have support for most virtual reality headsets, and its technical characteristics will be equivalent to a PC within two years, "reiterates Bell.

"We're in early talks with component manufacturers, so we can not say much apart from having the designs already detailed," says Bell. After this project there are multiple investors, but in Slightly Mad they believe that The Mad Box will not arrive at least for 3 years. What surely arrives before that date is  CARS 3, which Bell has previously warned that expects to be up to or even above the great simulators of the market, such as Gran Turismo Sport or Forza Motorsport 7.

Since the launch of Project CARS, Slightly Mad Studios has established itself as one of the key studios in the driving genre, but the future could bring something even more important to them. According to the CEO of the British studio, in parallel to the development of CARS 3, they are also working on their own console, which will be called The Mad Box.

No two without three, the saying also applies to video games, at least those who manage to sell enough units. To the surprise of no one, Project CARS will have a new delivery, as revealed by Ian Bell, CEO of Slightly Mad Studios. It has done so in the GTPlanet forums, as Teamvvv has collected.

"There will be a new Project CARS, it is already signed," he has published. Of course, he has not wanted to reveal any details, even if it will be the third installment. What we do know is that it will still take a while. Bell has explained that his intention is to reach beyond what other games have come, an important challenge considering the quality of titles like Forza.

A demanding simulator

Project CARS 2 went on sale for PC, Xbox One and PS4 in the last quarter of 2017. Like many other games, this driving simulator was updated to improve its performance on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. According to the developers, Microsoft's version of the console is the most powerful.

In the analysis of MeriStation, we highlight the quality of the product: "It has a technical section to remove the hat, stability almost bombproof, a sick obsession with details, an exquisite simulation that shows off all its benefits if we decide enjoy it with a licensed flyer and a competitive landscape with which you can achieve an important gap in the field at the eSports championships. "

Obviously, being a simulator is a demanding gameplay title, we are not facing a game for all audiences. However, those who enjoyed  CARS 2 are surely eager to discover what the new delivery will bring. For now, we will have to wait.
