Apparently the Dontnod studio does not have any kind of sensibility at the moment of touching subjects that are considered taboo in the games and they showed it with their current project, it is Life is Strange 2, a video game of episodic graphic adventures.

In this title we are introduced to two brothers, called Sean and Daniel, who decide to flee after having gone through a tragedy. Where they will have to face new responsibilities and deal with fanaticism.

Recently Luc Bagadhoust, lead producer and Raoul Barbet, co-creator of the game spoke in an interview with The Verge about how his title went from the problems of adolescents to a stage more related to politics, stating the following:

"I find it very difficult not to do anything that is not political," said Luc Bagadhous. "The people who express themselves are now more politicized than ever. It was very important and we have the responsibility to approach the issues with great care. But the idea is to deliver this message, not be too critical, but not hide the issues we want. "

Previously Dontnod had the intention to address issues such as depression, online harassment, among other problems faced by teenagers in the first installment of Life is Strange with the characters Max and Chloe. Now in this second installment apply the same method with the characters Sean and Daniel, two children of Latino descent who are faced with problems with immigration, race and separation from the family.

Another statement by Raoul Barbet is that many of his most serious issues are unfortunately universal. "It's a matter of society in general," he added. "That's why I think it works with many players, they can think about their own experience and country or history."

It should be noted that the company considered it important to find organic ways of telling these stories. Raoul Barbet pointed to the first game, when players face a suicidal friend, this being an example of a difficult issue that evolved naturally throughout history. This is the sum of the player's actions that led to that moment. Barbet added that "We do not want to gamify a difficult issue", in addition "You are responsible for what happened because you are playing".

Stay tuned, as the third episode of Life is Strange 2 will be released on May 9. The Dontnod team reveals that their main message is still to learn how to care for someone and be a role model. For his part, Raoul Barbet says that the project is still trying to explore realistic issues in a fictional universe. "Speaking of our society, real world problems, this kind of thing," he said. "I think the games are really great as a way to talk about all of that."
