ASRock has joined the rest of the motherboards, and has decided to release BIOS updates to support AMD's next-generation Ryzen processors on existing 400 and 300 series motherboards.

However, ASRock has said that despite being the first company to announce support for Ryzen 3000, BIOSs indicate that they will only support AMD's next-generation APUs, known as "Picasso", and not the complete series of Ryzen 3000 processors based on Zen 2.

According to the information that has been released recently, AMD will update its existing APUs with the 12nm process soon, this means that BIOS updates may not be included in future APUs.

The massive updates have made it possible for the Ryzen 3000 support to be available on the high-end X and B series motherboards. However, the support for the plates of the series A, is not available.

We have already seen the 3000 series of AMD APUs in nature; and in effect, they are nothing more than an iterative update of the Zen microarchitecture and not the Ryzen 3000 processors based on Zen 2, which should be coming.

AMD has promised to support the AM4 CPU socket with all its processors until 2020, meaning that the new processors they produce will be compatible with the existing motherboards.

However, not everything has been so simple for AMD, this is because they have had certain limitations of the capacity of the BIOS chips, this has been ruled out in the removal of Bristol Ridge support of some motherboards.

Many motherboard manufacturers have managed to solve this problem using larger BIOS chips, however, this is not the only problem AMD has had with the Ryzen 3000 processors.

Allegedly most of AMD's problems are the fault of the smaller power supply subsystems on the Series A motherboards.

But even then there is no exact answer yet and anyone could try to guess.

The new wave of ASRock updates will be available this month, however, it is not yet known if the Series A motherboards will be compatible with the Zen 2 based Ryzen 3000 processors.
