Music has always been a huge part of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA) video game franchise, with in-game radio stations of all genres and even voice cameos from musicians like Iggy Pop, Phil Collins, Kenny Loggins, Dr. Dre, and Shaun Ryder.

Back in 2013, GTA Online was first launched at the same time EDM was booming in popularity. It was only a matter of time before the two combined and DJs appeared in the game. In 2018, the After Hours update saw four real-life DJs appear in GTA Online, and 2020’s The Cayo Perico Heist added three more. Here are just some of the ways you can watch DJs in GTA Online.

Visiting The Music Locker

The Music Locker is an underground house and techno club beneath the Diamond Casino & Resort in East Vinewood, Los Santos. Before we get to the Music Locker, though, we have to take a moment and give credit where it's due. Rockstar are acclaimed with good reason: as developers, they've captured the essence of real online gambling with the Diamond Casino & Resort.

Those who play sweepstakes online for money will see few differences between reality and the virtual world when comparing their experiences out of and within GTA. At the ground-level venue, players can try casino games that are essentially slightly simplified versions of the games they're used to e.g. Lucky Wheel, roulette, blackjack, Three-Card Poker, and a variety of slot machines. These mini-games have attained a cult following of their own among die-hard GTA fans and it's unsurprising when you consider how many hours you can rack up on these side missions.

Once you're done in the Diamond Casino & Resort, you should visit Miguel Madrazo at the club (marked on the map by a diamond icon) to start the Cayo Perico Heist. You can enjoy the club's offerings while planning your Heist or exploring the Still Slipping collectibles. All Los Santos residents are welcome, but a Penthouse purchase grants VIP access and the chance to mingle with high flyers.

At The Music Locker, you can listen to Detroit techno legend Moodymann, who performed at the club's opening, as well as DJs Keinemusik and Palms Trax. The Music Locker also has its own radio station if you want to listen to the music while driving around Los Santos and completing other activities!

Hiring DJs in GTA Online

Another way to watch DJs in GTA Online is to hire them yourself! To do this, you’ll need to buy a nightclub first.

How to Buy a Nightclub in GTA Online

Visit the Maze Bank Foreclosures site.
Choose a club from the icons on the map. You can choose from Downtown Vinewood Nightclub ($1,670,000), West Vinewood Nightclub ($1,700,000), Mission Row Nightclub ($1,440,000), Strawberry Nightclub ($1,525,000), Del Perro Nightclub ($1,645,000), Vespucci Canals Nightclub ($1,320,000), La Mesa Nightclub ($1,500,000), Cypress Flats Nightclub ($1,370,000), Elysian Island Nightclub ($1,080,000), and LSIA Nightclub ($1,135,000).
Click “Buy From” and then “Buy”.

Unfortunately, you can’t buy The Music Locker, but you can buy a Master Penthouse from the Diamond Casino and Resort website for $6.5 million. This gives you free access to the club and its VIP Lounge.

How to Setup a Nightclub in GTA Online

After you’ve bought a club, you need to set it up:

Select “Set Up: Staff” or “Set Up: Equipment” on a computer in your purchased club. Each option starts a mission that you need to complete. It doesn’t matter which you do first, but you have to do both.
Once both missions are complete, the next mission will start. Complete this and then one of four DJs will be available to play in your club.

Which DJs Can You Hire to Play in Your GTA Online Nightclub?

Once you’ve completed the nightclub missions, you can use a computer in your club to hire a DJ. You can choose from:

Bosnian-German house/techno DJ Solomun
Italian techno/trance duo Tale of Us
German house/techno DJ Dixon
US house/techno DJ The Blessed Madonna

Will There Be More DJs Released in GTA Online?

Developers Rockstar haven't announced plans to introduce new DJs to the game, but it’s possible — there are often regular updates and new content in GTA Online!
