GTA Online: How To Play The Double Down Adversary Mode

Double Down in GTA Online throws players into a thrilling asymmetrical battle where two determined individuals, Franklin and Lamar, face off against a much larger team of up to eight Attackers. This mode requires strategic thinking and coordinated teamwork on both sides to emerge victorious and earn those GTA$.

How to Start a Double Down Game in GTA Online:

Open the In-Game Menu: Press the appropriate button to bring up the GTA Online menu.

Navigate to the "Online" Tab: Select the "Online" option.

Choose "Jobs": From the Online menu, select "Jobs."

Look for "Rockstar Created": Navigate to the "Rockstar Created" playlist.

Find "Adversary Modes": Within the Rockstar Created playlist, locate and select "Adversary Modes."

Start or Join a Match: From the list of Adversary Modes, you can either:

• Start Up Your Own Double Down Match: Host a new game and invite other players.
• Join Someone Else's Match: Look for an existing Double Down game and join the lobby.

Double Down Game Mode Maps:

There are seven different Double Down game modes, each taking place on a unique map:

• Double Down I: Paleto Forest Sawmill
• Double Down II: On a moving train with the Attacker team pursuing on motorcycles.

How the Double Down Adversary Mode Works:

• Teams: The mode features two teams:
  • Attackers: Consisting of up to eight players.
  • Hold Outs: A team of only two players, who are always the iconic Grand Theft Auto V characters Franklin and Lamar.
• Attacker Objective: The Attackers' goal is to kill both Franklin and Lamar before the timer runs out.
• Hold Out Objective: Franklin and Lamar must survive and hold off the Attacker team until the end of the round timer.
• Attacker Weapons: To balance the overwhelming numbers, the Attacker team is restricted to using only the sawed-off Double Barrel Shotgun.
• Hold Out Weapons: Franklin and Lamar have access to a full arsenal of powerful weapons and explosives, giving them a significant advantage in ranged combat.
• Hold Out Movement Restriction: To further balance the odds, Franklin and Lamar have restricted movement and must stay within a designated play area. Leaving this area will result in their immediate death.
• Lives: The Attackers have unlimited lives, allowing them to respawn and continue their assault. However, Franklin and Lamar each have only one life per round.

Strategy for Attackers:

Despite their numerical advantage, taking down Franklin and Lamar can bechallenging due to the Hold Outs' superior weaponry. Here are some keystrategies for the Attacker team:

• Close the Distance: The Attackers' shotguns have limited range. The primary goal should be to get close to Franklin and Lamar to inflict significant damage.
• Split Up and Flank: Instead of sticking together in a large group, try to split into smaller groups and approach the Hold Outs from different angles. This will force Franklin and Lamar to divide their attention and make them more vulnerable.
• Utilize Cover While Advancing: Since there are no healing items, Attackers should stick to cover as they advance on the Hold Outs to minimize the damage they take.
• Coordinate Attacks: Communicate with your teammates to coordinate your movements andattacks, increasing the chances of overwhelming Franklin and Lamar.

Strategy for Hold Outs (Franklin and Lamar):

As the Hold Outs, Franklin and Lamar's advantage lies in their powerful ranged weapons. Here's how to maximize your chances of survival:

• Maintain Distance: The key to survival is to keep your distance from the Attackers. As long as they can't get close, they are unlikely to deal much damage with their shotguns.
• Stay Mobile: Unlike the Attackers who benefit from cover, Franklin and Lamar should stay moving within their designated play area. This makes them harder targets tohit and improves their ability to spot approaching enemies fromdifferent angles.
• Watch the Mini-Map: The mini-map is crucial for tracking the locations of the Attackers (red dots). Coordinate with your teammate to monitor different approaches and prevent the Attackers from flanking you.
• Use Explosives Strategically: Don't hesitate to toss explosives to deter approaching Attackers, flush them out of cover, or even score direct kills.
