It's a PVP mode that will be available quite early in the story as long as you've managed to unlock a necessary skill.
To access the mode you have to go to Erewhon or from the menus.

In standard games you will be in a 4v4 match best out of 3 in which you can have game modes such as Elimination or Sabotage.
