Ghost of Yotei: Change the Time of Day
The world of Ghost of Yotei is a dynamic landscape where the shifting sun and moon directly influence your journey. Unlike titles featuring seasonal changes, the core environmental rhythm here is the potent day-night cycle. Understanding how to control this cycle is not just a convenience—it's a crucial tactical tool for any aspiring warrior. This guide will walk you through the simple process of changing the time and explain the strategic advantages of doing so.
How to Manually Change the Time of Day
Controlling the clock in Ghost of Yotei is an intuitive process centered around the game's campfire mechanics. You have two reliable methods at your disposal:
Find or Fast Travel to a Campsite: Established campsites scattered across the map serve as perfect rest stops. Interact with any of these to access the rest menu.Set Up a Temporary Camp: If you're in a permissible open-world area, hold Left on the D-pad to pitch a temporary camp. This offers the same functionality on the go.Once at a campsite, select the
"Sleep" option. You will be presented with clear choices:
"Sleep Until Morning" or
"Sleep Until Night." Your character will instantly transition to the selected time period.
Important Restrictions: Be aware that you cannot change the time in all locations. Specific story-critical or interior zones, such as the peak of Mount Yotei itself, disable this feature. If you fast-travel to one of these areas at night, the game will often automatically shift to daytime.
Strategic Reasons to Control the Clock
Manipulating the time of day is more than a cosmetic choice; it's a key element ofsuccessful gameplay. Here’s when you should consider making the switch:
- For Quest Progression: Certain missions, particularly specific bounties and side quests, areexplicitly designed to occur under the cover of darkness. If you find aquest objective unavailable, changing to night is likely your solution.
- For Superior Stealth: The cover of night is a stealth operative's greatest ally. If you'replanning to liberate an enemy outpost or infiltrate a fortified area, switching to nighttime provides deeper shadows and reduced enemyvisibility, making it significantly easier to remain undetected.
- For Exploration and Visuality: Conversely, the light of day is ideal for charting the vast landscapes of Ghost of Yotei. Daytime offers superior visibility for locating collectibles, following distant landmarks, and simply appreciating the breathtaking scenery. If your goal is unfettered exploration, sleeping until morning is the best choice.
Bystrategically using campsites to control the day and night, you canensure you're always operating on your own terms, whether you're a ghost in the shadows or a warrior surveying the land in the light of the sun.
