Casual games are a great way to unwind after a stressful day at work. And when the stress of the day is made worse by the heatwave pounding on our heads, there’s an even bigger need to unwind. Casual games are a great way to do just that. A Mega Moolah online slot session on your phone may be just what you need - especially considering the big win that awaits you. After all, Mega Moolah is a hyper-casual game that you can start playing instantly and set aside whenever you want.

But if you’re looking for something more engaging, here are some of the most relaxing and most importantly rewarding casual games you can try on your Xbox console.

Slime Rancher (in casual mode)

Monomi Park launched Slime Rancher in 2017 to generally positive reviews. In the meantime, the indie studio started working on the sequel - Slime Rancher 2 - set to be released on the Xbox Series X and S next year.

Slime Rancher is an open-world first-person life simulator adventure where you join Beatrix LeBeau, a rancher who moves to Far Far Range (a distant planet) to ranch… slime. You need to explore the surrounding world, collect slime, breed it, grow it, and feed it. Except for the Tarrs - these aggressive varieties of Slime can’t be grown and they’ll do a lot of damage if left unchecked.

If you play the game in Casual mode, the Tarrs don’t appear at all, and feral slimes are far less aggressive themselves.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy (just avoid the flight levels)

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is a remaster of the classic Activision game series Spyro introduced in 1998. The games - platformers - focus on Spyro, a young purple dragon who has to restore peace to his world by vanquishing various enemies. “Reignited” is a faithful recreation of the original titles, with consistent features and abilities across all three games. And most importantly, the dialogue involving Spyro was re-recorded, featuring Tom Kenny (the voice of Spongebob) in the title role.

The game can be relaxing and rewarding - except for the levels that involve flight. Those can be true, stress-inducingly hard to complete.

Stardew Valley (of course)

Finally, here’s one that, without question, is one of the most relaxing games ever - on any platform: Stardew Valley. Developed by Eric "ConcernedApe" Barone, your goal in the game is to rebuild your grandpa’s dilapidated farm in Pelican Town. The game is all about tending to the things growing, exploring caves for various materials, and interacting with a variety of NPCs that inhabit the small rural town.

The best thing about Stardew Valley is that you can play it at your own pace - it can be as relaxing and casual as you want it to be.
