Even though the Gearbox team is reserving important announcements regarding the title, Randy Pitchford, CEO of the company had previously reported on the progress of Borderlands 3. That's right, during the PAX South panel in 2015, the CEO opened recruiting for the Borderlands 3 development team stating the following: "We want to think about the future, and we want to think about what the next Borderlands is, and we are going to need some help."

A year later, during the 2016 PAX East panel, Pitchford revealed important information stating that, "obviously there will be another Borderlands." In addition to mentioning the transfer of the Battleborn art director, Scott Kester, to the team in a very similar role.

In addition, the CEO questioned whether the next Borderlands could use a more exotic number or designation, revealing that, "We do not even know if we're going to call it that." Although, "We could call it Borderlands 4 for everything we know." It is worth mentioning that the ironic style of the Borderlands comedy could include without any problem a cover that mocks the colons and the buzzwords. The company intends to offer a "really great, dignified" continuation.

But this is not all, Pitchford also had the opportunity to appear in April 2017 and claim that a Borderlands 3 is on the road full of more masked madmen.

Recall that Borderlands: the Game of the Year Edition was rated in Taiwan last month by a developer who did port work and who also contributed to the development of Borderlands in the past, which could suggest the possibility of a HD remaster for this year . However, this is not directly related to Borderlands 3, although it could be used to prepare players for the new game. Unfortunately, there have been no recent clues about Borderlands 3 as such.

It is important that you know that most Gearbox team is working on Borderlands 3. Randy Pitchford said so during the PAX West panel, where he revealed that the studio was fully active in a project stating that, "most of you want let's be working. " This project is definitely related to Borderlands.

In 2017 there was a talk about Unreal Engine 4, which included a very Borderlands-looking sequence. In it Randy presented the characteristics of the improved lighting engine and shadow effects, stating that "they would feed the next Borderlands game", however, it was very quick to deny the images as just a "technological demonstration" and not a game fragment real. Note that the previous Borderlands games were run on Unreal Engine, this makes a lot of sense if the next installment keeps the tradition with more dazzling technology.

Regarding the launch of Borderlands 3. Until now and as mentioned above, there is no official release date, however, a call for profits from the US publisher Take-Two seems to point to a possible release for the fall of 2019.

That's right, in a past report, Take-Two seemed interested in a possible launch between 2018 and 2019, as Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the company, had revealed when he wanted to include a "new highly anticipated title of one of the largest franchises. of 2K "that comprised in a period of months, that included from October of 2018 until September of 2019. Although it is necessary to keep in mind that with these declarations it is not possible to be certain that it was referring to Borderlands 3 specifically.

Unfortunately for its part, Gearbox can not get us out of doubt, since it remains silent with respect to an exact date for the arrival of the title. So we just have to wait until they finally make an official statement revealing more details about it.
