Apple recently announced that it has closed a deal with the chip company Qualcomm, which ends a couple of years of litigation, making the company once again have the opportunity to be Apple's 5G modem provider.Qualcomm is expected to provide 5G modems for the 2020 iPhones, but Apple generally prefers the dual source whenever possible.
But Apple also has the option of turning to Samsung for the manufacture of its 5G modems.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, published a research note in which he says that Qualcomm and Samsung will be Apple's 5G modem providers for the 2020 product cycle, in the case of the Samsung mmsms they would be for some markets.
Kuo said:
"We hope Apple will likely adopt the 5G baseband chips manufactured by Qualcomm and Samsung to reduce supply risk, reduce costs and have better bargaining power," Kuo wrote. In the USA U.S., AT & T and Verizon are focusing on mmWave in their initial 5G implementations, while T-Mobile and Sprint emphasize the sub-6 GHz at the beginning. "
Last year it was learned by Operations Director Jeff Williams, that Apple wanted to use dual-source modems, but because of the problem that existed with Qualcomm, this was impossible.
Kuo has said that Apple should sell between 70 and 75 million iPhones for the second half of 2020, and that total sales for that year exceed 200 million sales.
These are only predictions based on previous sales statistics, it is estimated that Apple sold in 2018 more than 205 million iPhones.
Recently also leaked some documents in which Apple mentioned the technology of Qualcomm and described as "the best" which contrasts the statements made by Apple while the dispute was burning.
