FIFA can be a great game when it comes down to trying to get ready for a sporting event in the world of soccer, with the video game franchise having proved to stand the test of time as one of the very best to have ever existed across all gaming consoles, including the Xbox.

Indeed, gamers and soccer enthusiasts have continued to play the iconic franchise for a number of years, with many continuing to play the game online against other players around the world in Pro Clubs or by playing against their friends to see how the best is.

And, with the 2022 FIFA World Cup fast approaching, Canadians will be getting into the swing of things as their country will be at its first tournament since 1986, thus marking the end of a 38-year wait to return to the sport’s biggest competition.

However, how can fans of The Maple Leafs be able to use the latest series of the FIFA game franchise to try and work out how successful the competition might be for the nation? Can the game be used to try and predict the path Canada will need to take in the knockout round if they are to get out of a tricky Group Stage?

FIFA can help predict Canada’s route in the 2022 FIFA World Cup

One of the great things about the FIFA game franchise on Xbox is that it has been able to create and replicate many of the world’s biggest football competitions, including the FIFA World Cup. With this in mind, Canadians will be able to look to simulate - or even play - as their national team and look to try and achieve success as World Champions.

We already know that the Maple Leafs will be placed in Group F where they will face two European sides and a team from Africa in what is going to be a hugely challenging group phase and one that many knows will be far from easy. John Herdman’s side will need to go up against Belgium, Croatia, and Morocco in order to qualify for the next stage of the competition.

So, how will FIFA help with this?

While it is a game, it is possible to try and simulate the results and see what could potentially happen in the future. Indeed, while many may feel this could be a great indicator of what is to come, it can also provide us with an insight of what to expect in the latter rounds of the tournament, too.

This is because we will see what Canada’s bracket will look like and what their route to success could be. We already know that the next round will feature a team from Group E, and depending on where they finish, either Spain, Germany, Japan, or Costa Rica will await them in the Round of 16.

What is the likelihood of Canada doing well at the 2022 FIFA World Cup?

Clearly, the Canada National Team has a tough competition ahead of them and things certainly will not get easier if they were to somehow qualify from an incredibly difficult Group F given that it is likely they would have to face either Spain or Germany in the next stage.

Indeed, this may not stop some of the country’s optimistic fans from betting on them in the matches that they do play in the upcoming competition, especially now they have the opportunity to do so following the changes in laws.

Many are able to find a free bet bonus for the Qatar WC and this may attract a number of punters to place a bet or two when the Maple Leafs take to the field in the Middle East against the likes of Croatia, Belgium, and Morocco.

However, while some fans may be considering it, what is the team’s likeliest outcome at this present moment?

Canada unlikely to cause upset and progress in the 2022 FIFA World Cup

While many will be cheering on the underdogs given that it is their first appearance at the major tournament for 38 years, it is perhaps widely accepted that many are not expecting too much in regard to an upset or a fairytale story.

Congratulations to team Canada qualifying for the world cup. Hopefully it wouldn't take another 38 years.

As highlighted, Group F features two of Europe’s biggest hitters, with Belgium and Croatia heavily experienced and both featuring a vast depth of talent to call upon once the competition begins and their squads need to be finalized.

Morocco are tough opponents, too, with the African’s a strong proposition for any national side, too. Canada may, though, be looking to try and surprise fans and perhaps look to take the games to their opponent, as they may feel they have nothing to lose if they do.

If they were somehow miraculously able to get through Group F and progress, then they would likely face Germany or Spain, and it would be almost impossible to see the Maple Leafs be able to produce a performance that was capable of beating these great footballing nations. Of course, shocks happen, but there is more likelihood of it happening in a game of FIFA rather than in reality.
FIFA will provide Canadians more joy than reality

Unfortunately, when it comes down to seeking success in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar this year, Canadians are more likely to achieve it by playing the legendary and iconic video game series rather than seeing it happen in reality and in front of their eyes.

Indeed, as long as Canada shows everyone that they are in the Middle East to compete and make life difficult, then anything can happen as football is not won on paper. Additionally, it would leave a nation proud, especially as they will co-host the next edition of the world’s biggest soccer competition in 2026 along with the USA and Mexico.

Nonetheless, there is plenty to be excited about and with the 38-year wait almost over, Canadians will be cheering on their team regardless of what happens on the field!
