Luckily, doing so is relatively easy. The answer to opening up more farmland lies in a rather simplistic tool: the shovel. However, this key piece of equipment won't be easily gained. Be prepared to travel and fight your way to secure your prize of a more bountiful harvest.
There are mainly two ways a player can get a shovel in Fields of Mistria: directly buying and making. The first and most direct way to get a shovel is to purchase a Worn Shovel from the General Store, costing 500 Tesserae. While it will instantly provide a shovel, it is very costly.
An alternate, more resource-heavy but perhaps more rewarding path is the Copper Shovel at the Forge. This requires 40 Copper Ore, which can be obtained through two primary methods. The adventurous player may visit the Mines from floors 1 to 20, where Copper Ore can be found as a common discovery. Anyway, for efficiency enthusiasts, purchasing Copper Ore from Blacksmiths is also possible, provided that the Mines are unlocked.
The Copper Shovel has a great advantage over the bought one. With it, the player will have the possibility to charge the Copper Shovel and excavate a few squares at a time, enhancing efficiency in digging by a huge margin and saving a lot of time.
