In Elden Ring Nightreign, the Rotted Woods is one of the "Shifting Earth" events that can appear on the map, offering a unique challenge and a powerful secret reward: the Favor of the Rotted Woods. This area is characterized by pervasive Scarlet Rot, which constantly afflicts players, and is inhabited by formidable enemies.

Elden Ring Nightreign: Find the Secret of the Rotted Woods

1. Unlock and Enter the Rotted Woods Event

• Activation: The Rotted Woods is a Shifting Earth event, which means it only appears randomly after you have defeated a Nightlord.
• Checking Availability: To see if the Rotted Woods event is active for your current expedition, open the Expeditions menu. If active, the southern part of Limveld will be visibly corrupted with Scarlet Rot.
• Recommended Entry: It's generally advised to enter the Rotted Woods on Day 2 of an expedition. By then, 4-6 Greater Formidable Foes will be highlighted on your map, allowing for better planning. Aim to be around Level 9 with Epic-tier gear before tackling this region.
• Entry Routes:
  • Northeast from the Spectral Hawk Tree: This elevated path offers a gentler descent into the rotted zone, potentially allowing you to skip some early enemy encounters.
  • Via the Main Road to the Fort: This route is shorter but more dangerous, as you'll brave swarms of enemies and difficult terrain directly towards the fort.

2. Survive the Rotted Woods

• Scarlet Rot: The entire area is infested with Scarlet Rot. You will constantly build up the status ailment simply by being in the zone.
• Cleansing: Look for red flowerbeds scattered throughout the woods. Interacting with these will instantly cleanse the Scarlet Rot, providing temporary relief.
• Enemies: The Rotted Woods are home to dangerous foes like Kindred of Rot andGiant Ants, in addition to multiple Greater Formidable Foes. Rangedcombat or stealth is often more effective than direct meleeconfrontation.

3. Reach the Fort and Obtain the Map

• Locate the Fort: Your primary objective within the Rotted Woods is to reach the fort located in the southwestern part of the region. A red flag will mark its location on your map.
• Inside the Fort: Once inside the fort, the Scarlet Rot buildup ceases, providing a safehaven. You can use this time to stock up at the merchant or upgrade gear at the Smithing Table if available.
• Defeat the Lordsworn Captain: Head up the stairs within the fort and defeat the Lordsworn Captain. This boss drops a Dormant Power.
• Find the Secret Chamber/Map: To the right of the stairs where you fought the Captain, you'll find a room with a map on a table. Interact with this map. This interaction will pinpoint the exactlocation of the secret (the Favor of the Rotted Woods) deep within thewoods on your in-game map with a red flag.

4. Claim the Favor of the Rotted Woods

• Follow the Marker: With the location now pinged on your map, follow the new red flagmarker. The exact location is randomized per run, so always rely on themap from the fort.
• Locate the Glowing Relic: The secret is found on a colossal rotted tree. You'll need to climb this tree to reach a section where the glowing relic is located, often appearing as a large flower bud.
• Acquire the Favor: Interact with the glowing relic to obtain the Favor of the Rotted Woods. This will also grant you the corresponding trophy/achievement.

The Power of the Favor of the Rotted Woods

The Favor of the Rotted Woods is an extremely potent permanent buff:

• Nullifies Scarlet Rot: You become immune to Scarlet Rot buildup for the rest of that expedition.
• Increases Max HP: Significantly boosts your maximum health.
• HP Regeneration on Attack: You passively regenerate HP after taking any damage if you follow up with attacks (similar to the "Rally" mechanic from Bloodborne).

This boon can be game-changing, making subsequent boss fights and even thefinal encounter with the Nightlord much more manageable. The RottedWoods is a challenging but highly rewarding Shifting Earth event in Elden Ring Nightreign.
