How to make barracks in Dwarf Fortress?


  It arises necessary to take into account that it is necessary to dig an area and place some or all of these pieces of furniture listed below:

  Once we have selected them, we will have to press Highlight on one of the pieces of furniture and proceed to press R to turn it into a barracks, it should be noted that a 7x7 is the ideal space to make a barracks, of course, the choice of size is free, here we can resize and change the location of the barracks.

 

  To change the size of the barracks we must press R after assigning the room as a barracks and use the / - keys to change the size of the barracks and finish.

  Once the barracks are created, we press the Q key and proceed to select the Barracks and then use the / - keys and highlight the different squadrons that we see in the information panel, to finish it will only be enough to press the T key.

  Notably:

 

  •   We need to make sure to highlight the squad we wish to train and that it is set to Active/Train.
  • We will press the Z key to assign squads to house them in the barracks, however, before doing so it is ideal to make sure that we have placed the necessary number of beds.
  • To finish, we press the I key to auto assign individual cabinets and furniture to each Dwarf or, failing that, use the Q key to assign furniture to the entire Squad.
