How to Fast Travel in Donkey Kong Bananza

Fast travel is an indispensable feature in many contemporary open-world games, given the vastness of their environments. Donkey Kong Bananaza is no exception, with its numerous layers and sub-layers that players are encouraged to explore thoroughly.However, fast travel in Donkey Kong Bananaza isn't available from the outset, and the game doesn't provide a mandatory tutorial on how to use it. For players looking to efficiently navigate current layers or quickly revisit previous ones, this guide will explain the fast travel system.

Donkey Kong Bananza: How to Fast Travel

The fast travel system in Donkey Kong Bananaza, known as the "Teeleport network," is unlocked after a significant early-game milestone:

Defeat the Peekabruiser Boss: You must first defeat the Peekabruiser boss.

Speak with the Blue Eel: After the boss fight, locate and speak with the blue eel that appears near the hole leading down to the Hilltop Layer. This eel will activate the Teeleport network for you.

Once unlocked, here's how to use the fast travel system within the same layer:

• Open the Map: Press the '-' button on your controller to open the map.
• Cycle Locations: Use the left and right D-pad buttons to cycle through the available fast travel locations (which are typically checkpoints you've visited).
• Teeleport: Once you've selected your desired destination, press the 'A' button to "Teeleport" to that spot.

Important Note: You must visit a location at least once for it to become available as a fast travel point on your map. Not all key locations on the map are part of the Teeleport network, but checkpoints and certain important landmarks typically are.

How to Return to Previous Layers in Donkey Kong Bananaza

While the map-based Teeleport system works for within-layer travel, the process for fast traveling between different layers is slightly different:

Locate a Warp Gong: To travel between layers, you'll need to find and interact with the Warp Gong in your current layer. Warp Gongs are large, crystalline gongs that serve as inter-layer transit points.

• For example, once you reach the Hilltop Layer (SL 200), you'll find a WarpGong in Fractone Village. Hitting this will also retroactively activate a Warp Gong near the entrance to Scavenger's Landing in the Lagoon Layer.

Punch the Gong: Approach the Warp Gong and punch it. This action will summon the mother eel, who is responsible for transporting Donkey Kong and Pauline between layers.

Select Destination: The mother eel will present you with a list of previously visitedlayers. Simply select the layer you wish to travel to and press the 'A' button to initiate the transfer.

Key Distinction: Although you cannot directly fast travel between layers via the map screen, once you have used a Warp Gong in a specific layer, that Warp Gong location will then become a fast travel point within that layer's Teeleport network on your map. This means you can quickly Teeleport to a Warp Gong from elsewhere in the same layer if you need to travel to a different layer.
