Disney Dreamlight Valley continues to expand its magical universe, and one of the latest additions is Joy from Pixar’s Inside Out. To bring this vibrant emotion into your valley, players must embark on a multi-step journey that involves creativity, crafting, and a bit of emotional insight. Unlocking Joy isn’t just about placing a house—it’s about helping her inspire Riley during a pivotal moment and completing the “Dream On” quest.
To welcome Joy into your valley, you’ll need to complete a quest that begins in the Inside Out Realm. This realm introduces a new storyline centered around Riley’s upcoming talent show, and Joy is determined to help her dream up the perfect performance.
Start by entering the Inside Out Realm, where Joy expresses concern about Riley’s lack of inspiration. She wants to use a special Dream Production set to spark Riley’s imagination. However, Joy and Sadness are restricted from using the original set, so they discover a new one that players must help decorate.
To set the scene for Riley’s dream, players must collect three pieces of Elegant furniture with golden accents. These items are located on the left side of the room and include:
Place these items behind the piano to complete the stage setup. To match the theme, dress your character in Elegant attire before initiating the dream sequence.
After completing the setup, return the next day to check in with Joy. Unfortunately, the dream doesn’t go as planned—it receives negative feedback, and Riley isn’t inspired. Joy then considers a new idea: crafting a light stick to brighten Riley’s imagination. This marks the turning point in the quest.

🏡 Building Joy’s House in the Valley
Once Joy agrees to move to Dreamlight Valley, players must place her Remote Headquarters House. To do this:
- Speak with Scrooge McDuck
- Pay 10,000 Star Coins to unlock the plot
- Place the house anywhere in your valley
After Joy arrives, the quest continues with the crafting of the light stick, which requires gathering specific materials.
🧵 How to Craft the Light Stick in Disney Dreamlight Valley
To complete the Dream On quest, players must collect a variety of colorful and rare items from across the valley. Here’s a breakdown of whatyou’ll need and where to find each material:

Once all materials are collected, use a crafting station to assemble the light stick. Deliver it to Joy to complete the quest.
😢 What Comes After: Inviting Sadness
With the light stick crafted and Joy officially part of your valley, theadventure continues. Players are then directed back to the Inside OutRealm to meet Sadness. However, she won’t join the valley until anothertask is completed—so prepare for more emotional storytelling andgameplay challenges.
