How To Unlock Utility Pouch in Death Stranding 2

In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Sam Porter Bridges' seemingly straightforward task of delivering cargo is constantly complicated by various threats, particularly BTs (Beached Things) and Bandits. To navigate these perils successfully, being well-equipped is paramount. Beyond weapons and gear, maintaining Sam's survivability through ample supplies, such as Blood Bags, is crucial.While Blood Bags are essential for restoring Sam's blood level (which acts as his health in combat), carrying too many can quickly become a cargo management nightmare. Thankfully, Death Stranding 2 introduces the Utility Pouch, a game-changer for blood bag storage.

Death Stranding 2: Unlock Utility Pouch

The Utility Pouch is a valuable backpack component that significantly enhances Sam's ability to carry Blood Bags efficiently.

Complete Order 16: Your first step is to progress through the main story until you complete Order 16: Deliver Aid Packages to the Northern Environmental Observatory. This order will connect the Northern Environmental Observatory to the Chiral Network.

Increase Connection Level to Level 3: After establishing the connection, your next objective is to increase your connection level with the Northern Environmental Observatory to Level 3.

• Easy Ways to Increase Connection:
  • Complete Standard Orders: Check the terminal at the Northern Environmental Observatory for any available Standard Orders (optional deliveries) and complete them.
  • Complete Sub-Orders: Similarly, look for and complete any Sub-Orders offered by the facility.
  • Deliver Lost Cargo: Actively seek out and deliver any lost cargo you find that is designated for the Northern Environmental Observatory. Use your Odradek arm to scan the area (press L1); lost cargo will be highlighted for a few seconds, allowing you to pinpoint and pick it up. Each delivery contributes to your connection level.

Unlock and Fabricate:

• Once your connection level with the Northern Environmental Observatory reaches Level 3, you will automatically unlock the Utility Pouch schematic.
• To equip it, head to any Private Room and access your Backpack Customization (usually by interacting with Sam's backpack near the suit hanging area).
• Navigate to the Components tab within the Backpack Customization menu.
• Here, you can fabricate the Utility Pouch using the following materials:
  • 30 Resins
  • 20 Metals

Why Should You Equip the Utility Pouch in Death Stranding 2?

The Utility Pouch is an indispensable addition to Sam's gear for several reasons, primarily concerning Blood Bag management:

• Efficient Blood Bag Storage: Without the Utility Pouch, Blood Bags are treated as individual cargoboxes that Sam must carry on his back. While each bag isn't extremelyheavy on its own, a collection of them can quickly accumulate weightand, more importantly, occupy valuable cargo space and negatively impact Sam's balance, especially when combined with delivery items. TheUtility Pouch solves this by allowing you to carry a dedicated slot for eight Blood Bags.
• High-Capacity Blood Bag Compatibility: One of the most significant advantages is that the Utility Pouch can also hold eight High-Capacity Blood Bags. These enhanced Blood Bags unlock after reaching connection level 3 with The Motherhood facility. With eight High-Capacity Blood Bags readily accessible, you'll rarelyfind yourself needing to fabricate new ones or struggle with cargomanagement related to healing supplies during prolonged expeditions orintense combat encounters.
• Optimized Backpack Space: While a single Utility Pouch provides ample space for Blood Bags, italso frees up the main cargo area of Sam's backpack. This allows you toattach other critical components to your backpack without sacrificingyour ability to carry healing items. Examples of other useful components include:
  • Chiral Antigravity Device: Increases Sam's overall carrying capacity, allowing for heavier or bulkier deliveries.
  • Spare Ammo Container: Provides extra ammunition for your firearms, crucial for extended engagements.

In essence, the Utility Pouch streamlines your inventory, making Sam more agile and prepared for the challenges of Death Stranding 2's treacherous world, ensuring you always have the necessary Blood Bags without compromising your cargo efficiency.
