The surprise launch of
Battlefield RedSec has officially expanded the
Battlefield 6 universe, throwing players into the high-octane, free-to-play battle royale chaos of Fort Lyndon. As the firestorm closes in, every gunfight matters, and the difference between a triumphant victory and an early elimination often comes down to the quality of your gear. You may have found yourself outgunned by enemies wielding custom, perfectly tuned loadouts. Fear not:
Battlefield RedSec doesn't lock you into using stock weapons. With a little preparation, you can drop into the match, find a
Custom Weapon Drop, and instantly arm yourself with your personal, fully optimized weapon builds. This guide will walk you through the essential two-step process:
setting up your favorite custom weapons in the lobby and then
locating and acquiring them during the heat of the match. Mastering this system is key to gaining a competitive edge in
Battlefield RedSec.
Battlefield RedSec: Get Custom Loadouts
Phase 1: Preparation is Power—Setting Up Your Custom Loadouts
Unlike the traditional multiplayer modes where you spawn with your custom primary weapon,
Battlefield RedSec requires you to prepare specific, pre-built weapons that you can call in later. This preparation takes place exclusively in the pre-game lobby or main
Battlefield 6 menu.
1. Access the Loadout Menu
Start by heading to the Loadouts menu. This is where you manage your weapon customizations, attachments, and cosmetics.
- Select a Class: Choose any of the existing soldier classes (Assault, Engineer, Support, etc.).
- Select the Weapon: Click on the primary or secondary weapon equipped for that class. This will open the detailed customization screen.
2. Modify and Favorite Your Weapon
This is the most critical step. You are not "favoriting" the entire class; you are saving a specific configuration of a weapon.
- Customize: Select the weapon you want to use in RedSec. Equip all your preferred attachments (scopes, grips, magazines, etc.), apply your chosen camos, and add any specific charms or stickers. Take your time—this is the exact weapon you will retrieve later.
- Hit Modify: Once customized, select the Modify option.
- Hit Favorite: Find and select the Favorite option (it may be represented by a star icon).
The Favorite Section and Limits
- Dedicated Tab: Once saved, all your favorite weapons will appear in their own dedicated Favorite Section within the loadout menu.
- The Roster Cap: Players are limited to a total of 8 Favorite Weapons at any given time. Choose wisely, ensuring you have a diverse arsenalready (e.g., a long-range AR, a CQB SMG, a powerful sniper).
- Managing the Cap: If you need to add a ninth weapon, you must first unfavorite one of the eight weapons you have already selected.
Phase 2: In-Game Retrieval—The Custom Weapon Drop
With your custom loadouts saved, you now need to find them on the massivemap of Fort Lyndon. Your saved weapons are retrieved via Custom Weapon Drops that appear at various points during the match.
1. Locate the Drop Zone
Custom Weapon Drops are special event resources that appear on the map at different intervals.
- Timing: The drops are most common when a new safe zone appears (the map ring shrinks). Keep an eye out just as these new zone timers complete.
- Map and HUD Icons: The location of a Custom Weapon Drop will be clearly visible on both your mini-map and your main HUD as you get close. Look for a distinct supply icon to guide you to the drop point.
2. Secure and Interact
Once you locate the drop, you must act quickly, but carefully.
- Clear the Area: Custom Weapon Drops are high-value targets. Enemy players will be actively watching or moving toward these locations. Before approaching, communicate with your squad and check yoursurroundings. Clear the immediate area of any threats to avoid gettingambushed while retrieving your gear.
- Open the Drop: Approach the Custom Weapon Drop and press the designated interact button to open it.
- Choose Your Weapon: Inside, you will see a menu listing all the weapons you favorited in the lobby. Select the one you wish to use. The chosen weapon will instantly appear in your hands, complete with all the attachments, camos, and customizations you set up earlier.
Key Rules for Weapon Drops
- One Per Player: Players are limited to one weapon per drop. Choose the weapon that best suits the current situation (e.g., a sniper if you're holding a hill, an SMG if the zone is closing into abuilding).
- Squad-Friendly: All members of your squad canmake use of a single Custom Weapon Drop. However, this means the dropwill only remain available for a limited time or until the first fewweapons are claimed, so prioritize who gets their gear first.
By leveraging the Loadout and Custom Weapon Drop system, you ensure thatyou are never relying on low-tier loot. You can equip your favorite,best-tuned weapons quickly, giving you the competitive advantage neededto survive the closing firestorm and claim victory in Battlefield RedSec.
